Academy of Learning Mississauga East Forms Alliance with AERCs Therapy

The Academy of Learning Mississauga East – https://aolmississauga.com/ is proud to announce that Gloria Segovia, MSW RSW, RP (Registered Psychotherapist) and founder of AERCs Therapy – https://www.aercs.ca/ will be teaming-up with us to offer mental health awareness webinars for our staff and students. These videos will be approximately thirty minutes in length and cover a variety of topics in the mental health field including how to recognize mental health needs and common therapeutic approaches to presenting issues and diagnoses. Beginning in Summer 2023, Gloria’s information-rich uploads will be released monthly and be accessible through the Academy of Learning’s web and social media platforms. This academic and professional partnership of AOL Mississauga East with AERCs Therapy is one which our institution most appreciates because it provides real world experience and shares insight into what students can expect in their own practices and soon-to-be professional careers.

AERCs Partnership with AOL Mississauga

Gloria Segovia Returns to her Roots Helping Sunita Vyas at AOL Mississauga East

In the early 2000’s, AERCs founder Gloria Segovia taught the flagship CSW (Community Service Worker) program at AOL Mississauga. Twenty three years later, she and Sunita Vyas, the Program Director here at the school, are working together again for the benefit of our students and respective communities.

AERCS Therapy Mississauga (https://www.aercs.ca/contact-aercs-mississauga/) is located close by to the AOL Mississauga East (https://aolmississauga.com/contact-us/) school in the Queensway Medical Center at 89 Queensway W.

Community Service Worker (CSW) Program is popular at Academy of Learning Mississauga East because it can lead to a satisfying career.

Community service workers are an important part of our society. They administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs and community services to people in need. They assist clients to address personal and social problems and make lifelong friendships. They are employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, shelters, substance abuse centers, school boards, prisons, and other establishments.

Gloria Segovia, MSW RSW, RP (Registered Social Worker and Registered Psychotherapist) has over fifteen years of clinical experience, working in education and hospital sectors as well as private practice.

Gloria would like to give back to the AOL community by providing a series of webinars addressing many mental health concerns as they pertain to the CSW program. This will help students see the real-world applications of the theories and procedures. Gloria will also share her own personal experience as an immigrant to Canada as she helps to smooth the emotional journey for foreign students and those from other more diverse ethnic backgrounds.

In addition to the online webinar series, Gloria and AERCs Therapy’s team of Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychotherapists and Psychologists are available to provide counselling to staff and students at AOL locations across the province, remotely, and in-person at their Mississauga, Toronto and Orangeville facilities. AERCs Therapy will also become a possible student placement location for students
and graduates of the CSW program.
