Program Objective
The Conference & Event Planner Diploma Program at Academy of Learning Career College – Mississauga East is designed to equip learners with the practical skills, industry knowledge, and professional confidence needed to plan, coordinate, and execute successful events of all sizes. Duties and Responsibilities
Conference and Event Planners are responsible for organizing, coordinating, and executing conferences, conventions, meetings, seminars, exhibitions, trade shows, festivals, and a wide range of corporate events. While specific duties vary based on experience and the nature of the event, responsibilities commonly include:
- Meeting with associations, sponsors, and client groups to determine event objectives, format, budget, and administrative procedures.
- Coordinating event services such as venue arrangements, transportation, catering, marketing materials, and security.
- Managing all logistical components of conferences, events, and trade shows.
- Overseeing participant registration, preparing programs and promotional materials, and managing event publicity.
- Responding to on‑site issues with timely and effective decision‑making.
- Hiring, training, and supervising event support staff.
- Negotiating contracts for services, approving suppliers’ invoices, maintaining financial records, reviewing final billing submitted to clients for events, and preparing reports.
